Lookman goes to war: African POTY erases Atalanta from Instagram bio to force Inter switch
Published: August 01, 2025
Atalanta have rejected a €45 million bid from Inter Milan for reigning African Footballer of the Year Ademola Lookman, allnigeriasoccer.com has been told.
The offer—comprised of €42 million upfront and €3 million in performance-related bonuses—fell short of Atalanta’s €50 million valuation.
Inter Milan have made Lookman their top attacking target this summer following a standout 2024/25 campaign.
The 27-year-old netted 20 goals in all competitions, including 15 in Serie A, playing a key role in Atalanta’s qualification for the UEFA Champions League.
His pace, technical ability, and ability to play across the front line make him a strong fit for Cristian Chivu's system. A previous €40 million bid from Inter was turned down last month.
Despite the improved offer, Atalanta remain unmoved in their stance. Lookman is reportedly keen on making the switch to San Siro and has already agreed personal terms with Inter.
He has also turned down a contract extension from the Bergamo-based side, signaling his intent to leave.
In a move that has intensified speculation over his future, Lookman has removed all mentions of Atalanta from his Instagram bio.
Additionally, he has deleted all photos related to the club from his account, erasing any visible association with Atalanta on the platform.
With Lookman pushing for an exit and Atalanta holding firm on their valuation, the coming days could prove decisive in determining whether Inter meet the asking price or shift their focus to alternative targets.
