Official: After Onuachu, Trabzonspor sign another Nigerian forward with a Southampton past
Published: August 07, 2025
With a statement on the official website, Turkish Super Lig side Trabzonspor have confirmed the signing of Brussels-born Nigerian forward Kazeem Olaigbe
An agreement has been reached between Stade Rennais FC and the player himself regarding the permanent transfer of Olaigbe to Trabzonspor.
Olaigbe becomes the second Nigerian forward with a Southampton background to be signed by Trabzonspor in the summer transfer window, following the arrival of Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu.
The 22-year-old has departed Rennes just six months after joining the Ligue 1 side from Belgian outfit Cercle Brugge in February 2025.
During his short stint in Brittany, he made ten appearances in the French top-flight, registering two assists.
A product of the Anderlecht academy, Olaigbe joined Southampton on a scholarship deal in the summer of 2019.
He represented the Saints in the EFL Trophy, Premier League 2, U18 Premier League and FA Youth Cup, before sealing a permanent transfer to Cercle Brugge in 2023.
Olaigbe enjoyed loan spells at Ross County and Harrogate Town as a Southampton player.
The talented attacker is on the longlist of Nigeria-eligible players being targeted by Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle ahead of the resumption of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
Olaigbe has played for Belgium at U15, U16, U17, U19, U20 and U21 level.
