Squad numbers for Iwobi, Bassey confirmed; midfielder set to break record held by Newcastle legend
Published: August 15, 2025
Through the official website, Fulham have confirmed the squad numbers for the 2025-2026 season ahead of their Premier League opener against Brighton & Hove Albion at the Amex on Saturday afternoon.
Nigeria internationals Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey are poised to make their season debuts against the Seagulls, given that they were named in the starting lineup for Fulham's final pre-season friendly against Eintracht Frankfurt.
Iwobi has been handed the number 17 shirt, while Bassey will don number 3, keeping the same squad numbers they wore last season.
The attacking midfielder and left-footed centre-back returned early for pre-season after requesting to be excused from Nigeria's post-season friendlies against Ghana, Jamaica and Russia.
Barring injury, Iwobi is set to become the Nigerian player with the most Premier League appearances before the end of 2025.
The Hale End Academy graduate currently has 291 top-flight appearances, just seven short of Newcastle United legend Shola Ameobi, Nigeria's record holder in the competition.
Last season, Iwobi featured in all 38 Premier League matches for only the second time in his top-flight career, matching his appearance record from the 2022-23 campaign at Everton.
