Man Utd captain Bruno Fernandes watches Chido Obi open season account v Norwich U21s

In a Premier League 2 match at Carrington on Friday, Manchester United made it two wins from as many games, beating Norwich City, with dual-national striker Chido Obi opening his account for the 2025-2026 season.

Obi, who has slipped down the first team's pecking order following the summer arrivals of Benjamin Šeško, Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha, has returned to the development squad to build match fitness.

The Denmark U21 international of Nigerian descent made his first start of the season after featuring off the bench against Middlesbrough in the opening round.

The 17-year-old was on target to help United secure the win in front of notable spectators, with first-team captain Bruno Fernandes and director of football Jason Wilcox both present in the stands, according to the club's official website.

Fourteen minutes into the contest, Obi pounced on a defensive lapse and calmly slotted into an unguarded net.

After Alan Domeracki's free-kick was headed home by Luke Towler to cancel out the opener, United restored their advantage almost immediately through an Armer header from James Scanlon's delivery.

Obi was denied a third by goalkeeper Caleb Ansen, but Ethan Ennis extended the lead in the 53rd minute, converting Sam Mather's cross.

Norwich pulled one back when Errol Mundle-Smith capitalised on a rebound after his first effort struck the woodwork.

United sealed the result late on as Jack Fletcher netted their fourth of the afternoon with nine minutes left on the clock.
