Not a routine medical: Boniface's ACL history forces AC Milan into marathon checks
Published: August 23, 2025
AC Milan’s pursuit of Victor Boniface has entered a decisive phase after the Nigerian striker underwent an extended series of medical examinations in the city on Friday, with further tests scheduled for Saturday morning, according to a report by Gazzetta dello Sport.
AC Milan are conducting extensive medical examinations on Nigeria international Victor Boniface, given his history of two anterior cruciate ligament surgeries and recurring muscle injuries that have sidelined him for several matches over the past two seasons.
The 24-year-old forward, who arrived in Milan on Friday to complete his move, began the customary medical routine at the Madonnina clinic before heading to the Centro Ambrosiano for sports fitness evaluations.
However, the process did not conclude there. Concerned with ensuring absolute certainty over the player’s condition, Milan requested additional checks at the Galeazzi Hospital.
The club’s trusted orthopedist was recalled from vacation specifically to oversee the tests.
The detailed examinations, which started around 3:15 p.m., stretched late into the evening, finally concluding at approximately 8:30 p.m.
Transfer expert Matteo Moretto reported that doubts remain within the club regarding Boniface’s physical readiness. While Milan are eager to secure his signature, they are determined to be “100% sure from a physical standpoint” before finalizing the deal.
For that reason, further medical evaluations were scheduled for this morning, leaving both the club and player waiting anxiously.
The drawn-out process has created a tense atmosphere, with supporters closely following developments.
Boniface had been expected to sign his contract and be unveiled as Milan’s latest addition by the weekend, but those plans have now been delayed.
The club’s caution reflects its recent strategy of reducing risks on high-value transfers, particularly for players with demanding physical roles.
For now, AC Milan and Boniface must wait for the results of today’s examinations before proceeding to the signing stage.
Until then, the move remains on hold, and the sense of anticipation continues to build around whether the Nigerian striker will officially become the Rossoneri’s newest star.
