Wolverhampton Wanderers have reportedly submitted a €20 million (approximately N35.6 billion in Nigerian currency) bid to sign versatile Nigeria midfielder Christantus Uche from Spanish side Getafe, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
The Premier League club is eager to complete the deal ahead of the transfer deadline as manager Vitor Pereira looks to strengthen Wolves’ attacking options amid injury setbacks.
Uche, 22, impressed for Getafe last season, scoring four goals and providing six assists in 33 La Liga appearances following his €500,000 move from AD Ceuta in 2024.
He opened the 2025-26 campaign in fine form, registering a goal and an assist in Getafe’s first league match, reinforcing his reputation as a versatile attacker capable of playing both as a striker and a central midfielder.
His performances have earned him a maiden call-up to the Super Eagles during the Unity Cup in May, and he has received another selection ahead of Nigeria’s crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and South Africa in September.
Uche’s combination of physicality, duel-winning ability, and adaptability has attracted interest from several Premier League clubs.
Getafe, reportedly facing financial constraints, have set a €25 million release clause in Uche’s contract, which runs until 2028, but are said to be open to offers around €20 million. Talks with Wolves are ongoing.
This potential transfer aligns with Wolves’ strategy to inject youth and dynamism into their squad following a mixed start to the Premier League season.
If finalized, Uche could make his debut at Molineux against Everton next weekend, offering the club an immediate boost in attack while Getafe could reinvest the funds to strengthen their own squad.
