'Very serious problem' - Getafe coach says he's against Uche leaving for Wolves

Getafe coach José Bordalás has admitted he is against the sale of Nigeria international Christantus Uche despite the midfielder's move to Wolverhampton Wanderers edging closer to completion.

Speaking after Getafe's 2-1 victory over Sevilla at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán on Monday night, Bordalás stressed that Uche remains vital to his plans and warned that losing him would create major problems for the squad.

Wolves are on the brink of agreeing a fee of just under €20 million for the 22-year-old, who is expected to sign a five-year contract with the Premier League side.

Although his departure appeared imminent, Uche started against Sevilla and played the full 90 minutes, battling through pain to help secure the win.

"Let's hope he doesn't leave. I'm against him leaving; he's a very important player, and this becomes more difficult every day," Bordalás said in his post-match conference after the win at Sevilla.

"We can't start from scratch every season, without knowing the squad we'll have. If Uche leaves, we have a very serious problem.

"I understand the situation, but we can't be at the mercy of selling a player as important as Uche."

Getafe had initially planned to keep Uche this season despite interest from Italy and England, but the club has been forced to sanction his exit in order to comply with La Liga's registration rules.

President Ángel Torres confirmed Uche's situation, conceding that financial regulations have left him with no choice but to sell.

Uche was one of Getafe's standout performers last season, contributing four goals and six assists in 33 La Liga appearances.
