Chelsea striker risks missing out on Young Lions squad after flirting with Nigeria

Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that Chelsea's highly-rated teenage striker Chizaram Ezenwata is facing uncertainty over his international future.

Ezewata, who is also eligible to represent Nigeria's Flying Eagles and Cameroon's Cubs through his father and mother respectively, may be omitted from England's Young Lions' squads for their September fixtures after recently exploring the possibility of representing Nigeria.

With England's Football Association set to announce the Young Lions' squads on Friday, August 29, the first year scholar has yet to receive any contact from the English FA or coaching staff since reports emerged of his flirtation with Nigeria.

In May, Ezenwata made headlines after visiting the Super Eagles camp in London ahead of the Unity Cup clash against Jamaica.

He was accompanied by his father, former Gombe United star Ndubuisi Ezenwata, and received a warm welcome from coach Eric Chelle and the senior squad.

Discussions during the visit centred on his potential involvement with Nigeria's Flying Eagles or Olympic team.

Following talks with Nigerian Federation officials, the forward was handed a maiden invitation to the Flying Eagles ahead of the 2025 Fifa U20 World Cup.

Chelsea have prevented him from travelling to Abuja because the season just started.

Ezenwata is considered one of Chelsea's most promising youngsters, having made his debuts in Premier League 2 and EFL Trophy at the age of 16.
