Competition for Ola Aina: Four fullbacks on Nottingham Forest's radar before deadline day
Published: August 28, 2025
Ola Aina could face fresh competition for his place at Nottingham Forest, with the club actively exploring the market for a new right-back before the transfer window closes.
Forest have approached RB Leipzig over the availability of Lutsharel Geertruida, who is one of four fullbacks currently on the club's radar, according to Sky Sports UK.
The Dutch defender is open to a departure from Leipzig, less than a year after joining from Feyenoord, and discussions over a loan move with an option to buy have taken place.
Juventus' Nicolo Savona and Sevilla's Juan Angel Carmona are among the other options being considered by Nottingham Forest.
Nottingham Forest's pursuit of a new right-back has cast fresh doubt over Ola Aina's undisputed status, even though the Nigeria international is currently Nuno EspĂrito Santo's first choice in the role.
Aina enjoyed a breakout campaign in 2024-2025, impressing with his versatility as Nottingham Forest narrowly missed out on a Champions League spot.
He capped the campaign with a place on the shortlist for the Premier League Team of the Season at right-back.
The Chelsea academy graduate ended speculation over his future last month by signing a new contract with Forest, keeping him at the City Ground until June 30, 2028.
