'He wants to leave, he wants to stay' – Agent makes confusing statement on Wolves target Uche
Published: August 28, 2025
The agent of Super Eagles midfielder Christantus Uche has cast fresh doubt on his client's proposed transfer to Wolverhampton Wanderers by making contradictory comments regarding the player's future.
Wolves are understood to have reached an agreement with Getafe worth €20 million for the 22-year-old Nigerian, who joined the Spanish outfit last summer.
However, the deal has stalled as Uche is yet to give his consent to the transfer.
Speaking to Radio Marca, as reported by Sport, after visiting Getafe's offices on Wednesday, Uche's representative admitted that the midfielder remains undecided.
"He wants to leave, he wants to stay," Uche's agent said.
"Uche wants to play on the pitch... If Ángel Torres says he didn't speak to me, he'd be someone who looked just like me."
With just a few days left before the summer transfer window closes, the future of the Super Eagles midfielder carries major implications for Getafe both on and off the pitch.
If Uche opts to leave, his absence would be a significant blow to the club's ambitions of securing continental football.
However, his departure would also provide much-needed financial relief, giving Getafe the resources to strengthen their squad and complete player registrations in La Liga.
Uche, who has been included in the Super Eagles' 31-man provisional squad for the 2026 Fifa World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Rwanda, will be eager to resolve his club future quickly so he can focus on helping Nigeria secure vital victories and reignite their qualification hopes.
