Super Falcons GK Nnadozie allocated squad number at Brighton ahead of possible WSL debut
Published: September 05, 2025
With a statement on the official website, Brighton & Hove Albion Women have announced their squad numbers for the 2025–26 campaign, with Super Falcons goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie receiving the No. 1 jersey ahead of Sunday’s Women's Super League opener against Aston Villa.
The allocation of the shirt is a strong indication that the 24-year-old, who joined the Seagulls on a free transfer from Paris FC in July, has been installed as first choice goalkeeper.
Nnadozie arrives on the South Coast with an impressive pedigree, having already competed at the World Cup, Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, UEFA Women's Champions League and the Olympic Games.
Her commanding presence and consistency are expected to bring stability to Brighton's defensive line.
The former Rivers Angels star reported late for pre-season after being granted an extended break following her exploits at this summer’s Wafcon, where she kept four clean sheets.
Nigeria beat Tunisia 3–0, Botswana 1–0 and held Algeria to a goalless draw in the group stage, before cruising past Zambia 5–0 in the quarter-finals on their way to lifting the trophy.
A potential debut against Aston Villa would see Nnadozie follow in the footsteps of Super Falcons teammates Asisat Oshoala and Toni Payne, who have both featured in England's Women's Super League.
Her individual performances have also been recognised on the global stage, with the Nigerian named on a five-player shortlist for the Women's Yachine Trophy, awarded to the world's best goalkeeper.
