What Brighton coach said about Super Falcons star Nnadozie after WSL debut v Aston Villa
Published: September 08, 2025
Brighton & Hove Albion Women coach Mark Vidosic has praised Super Falcons goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie after her impressive Women’s Super League debut in the 0-0 draw against Aston Villa.
Vidosic, reflecting on the opening game of the 2025–26 season, said he was pleased with the performances of his debutants, Nnadozie and Moeka Minami, while also commending Charlie Rule, who was making only her fourth WSL start following a lengthy injury layoff.
"Chia didn’t have to make any massive saves, but she commanded her area well and the players in front of her protected her very well,” Vidosic said to Brighton's official webpage.
The Brighton boss highlighted Nnadozie’s composure and leadership at the back, noting how she organized the defence and maintained control in her penalty area despite the match being tightly contested.
The 24-year-old goalkeeper joined Brighton from Paris FC in July and was immediately entrusted with the No. 1 jersey.
Her debut underlined why she is regarded as one of Africa’s top goalkeepers.
Nnadozie demonstrated both reflexes and positional awareness, ensuring Aston Villa failed to convert their chances.
Having already made a mark on the international stage at the FIFA Women’s World Cup, the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, and the Olympic Games, Nnadozie continues to build her reputation globally.
Her debut in the WSL suggests that she is ready to make an immediate impact in England, providing Brighton with reliability between the posts and boosting the team’s confidence as they aim for a strong season.
