Nuno sacked: Super Eagles duo Ola Aina and Awoniyi await new Nottingham Forest coach

Super Eagles duo Ola Aina and Taiwo Awoniyi are awaiting a new manager at Nottingham Forest, after the club confirmed on Tuesday morning that Nuno Espírito Santo had been relieved of his duties as head coach, despite signing a new contract in June.

It has been widely reported that Nuno was fired following a disagreement with the club's owner, Evangelos Marinakis.

Last season, Marinakis stormed the pitch at fulltime after a 2-2 draw with Leicester City, confronting Nuno with a furious outburst after a result that dented their Champions League hopes.

Nuno guided Nottingham Forest to a remarkable seventh place finish in the Premier League last season, securing the club's first European qualification in three decades.

Forest currently sit 10th in the English top flight, having collected just four points from their opening three matches.

Attention has already turned to potential successors, with the English press linking names such as former Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou, who although Australian also holds Greek nationality and shares ties with Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis, as well as José Mourinho and Brendan Rodgers.

With Nuno in the Nottingham Forest dugout, Ola Aina made 49 appearances in all competitions, scoring one goal while registering an assist.

Meanwhile, Awoniyi saw his game time limited, starting just thirteen games from a possible seventy-three in all competitions.

The 2013 Fifa U17 World Cup winner was linked with a departure from Nottingham Forest in the recently concluded transfer window but nothing came out of it.
