'A clear red card' - Former Brentford forward insists Durosinmi was lucky to escape dismissal

Former Brentford forward Martin Fillo has claimed that Rafiu Durosinmi should have been sent off in Viktoria Plzen’s 1-1 draw with Ferencváros on Thursday night.

Durosinmi opened the scoring for Plzen in the first half but was at the center of controversy after a reckless challenge on Bence Otvos.

The 22-year-old lost possession in a promising position and, in an attempt to win the ball back, stepped on Otvos’ shin.

Dutch referee Allard van der Eijk opted to issue only a yellow card, a decision that sparked debate after the match.

Speaking as a pundit on Nova Sport, Fillo was emphatic in his assessment: "A clear red card. I certainly wouldn't have gotten away with it. Viktoria was lucky because this is a clear red card. Robbie Keane will probably send a complaint to the referees' committee after this match."

Despite the incident, Durosinmi continues to impress this season, having scored seven goals in fourteen matches across all competitions.

The young striker, who was linked with a move away from Plzen in the summer, will be hoping his form paves the way for a bigger transfer in the near future.
