Super Eagles defender named in Olympiacos travelling squad for UCL clash against Arsenal
Published: September 30, 2025
Olympiacos manager José Luis Mendilibar has confirmed his travelling party for Wednesday's Champions League showdown with Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium, with Super Eagles defender Bruno Onyemaechi making the list.
The 22-man group features three goalkeepers, seven defenders, ten midfielders and two forwards.
Barring any late injury setbacks in Tuesday’s final training session, Onyemaechi will be named in the matchday squad for the second matchday of the league phase of the UEFA Champions League.
Since arriving from Boavista in the January transfer window, the Nigeria international has struggled for regular minutes, with Argentina’s Francisco Ortega preferred at left-back.
Onyemaechi has so far managed just 99 minutes from a possible 630 across all competitions this season.
The 26-year-old and his teammates will hold their final training session at the Emirates on Tuesday evening, beginning at 19:00 local time.
Should he feature against the Gunners, it would mark his Champions League debut.
Olympiacos enter the tie as the only Greek club to have won a European trophy, memorably lifting the UEFA Europa Conference League in 2024 after defeating Fiorentina in the final at the home of rivals AEK Athens.
