'We give support' - Adams reveals he was in touch with some Super Eagles stars before first call-up

As the Super Eagles intensify preparations for their crucial 2026 Fifa World Cup qualifier against Lesotho's Crocodiles, Sevilla striker Akor Adams has reacted to his first call-up to the national team.

The former Lillestrom goal poacher has earned his first call-up to Nigeria's senior national team six years after representing the Flying Eagles at the 2019 Fifa U20 World Cup, where he provided an assist against Qatar in the group stage.

Adams shares a close friendship with several Super Eagles players, including Igoh Ogbu, Chidera Ejuke and Kelechi Iheanacho, who were not included in the squad for the October international internationals.

Speaking in a video released by the Super Eagles official X account, Adams shared his thoughts on joining the national team setup and his mindset ahead of Friday's clash with Lesotho.

He downplayed the notion of needing time to adapt, expressing confidence in his seamless integration into the squad.

"I don't think there is a breaking in, personally.  I just have to give what I can for the team. In general, whoever's playing, we give support. And if you're called upon by the coach, you do your best," Adams said.

"There are a couple of guys that I'm in touch with, but I'm looking forward to making more relationships, and also better friendships."

The 25-year-old Adams has been in impressive form for Sevilla, recently scoring in consecutive La Liga matches, including a notable strike against Barcelona.

With Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman, Terem Moffi and Tolu Arokodare in the squad, Adams is unlikely to make his full debut in the upcoming matches against Lesotho and Benin.
