Rangers and Tottenham Hotspur join Bayer Leverkusen in race for Nigeria U20 international

Two European clubs have reportedly entered the race to sign Nigeria U20 international Sani Suleiman as interest in the highly rated forward continues to grow.

Allnigeriasoccer.com exclusively reported three days ago that Bayer Leverkusen have been monitoring the AS Trencin sensation since late last season, with scouts keeping close tabs on his development even before the start of the 2025 Fifa U20 World Cup.

Fresh reports from Team Talk suggest that Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur have now made enquiries about a potential transfer.

The North London club face competition from Scottish giants Rangers, who are also keen on securing the teenager's signature.

Suleiman played a key role for the Flying Eagles at the U20 World Cup, starting two of Nigeria's group stage matches before missing the round of 16 defeat to Argentina through suspension.

Widely regarded as one of the most exciting young talents in European football, the 19-year-old joined Slovak side AS Trencin in the summer of 2024 after a breakout campaign with Akwa United, where he scored 11 goals in 19 league appearances following a move from Wikki Tourists.

He has started the new season in impressive form, contributing four goal involvements in six outings across all competitions.

Seen as a future Super Eagles player, Suleiman has one year remaining on his current deal with Trencin, who hold a club option for the 2026-2027 and 2027-2028 season.
