'Entertainment' - Iwobi reveals what Chukwueze brings to Fulham, why AC Milan loanee is underrated
Published: October 11, 2025
Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi has highlighted the qualities that make Samuel Chukwueze an exciting addition to the Fulham squad.
After missing out on a move during the January transfer window, Chukwueze finally completed a loan switch from AC Milan to the Cottagers in September, joining for the remainder of the season.
Although yet to make his full Fulham debut, the Nigerian international winger has shown flashes of his potential in substitute appearances and registered his first Premier League assist against Bournemouth before linking up with the national team this week.
Iwobi and fellow Nigeria international Calvin Bassey have been working to help Chukwueze adapt to life at Craven Cottage, and regain his confidence after limited opportunities at AC Milan in recent seasons.
When asked what Chukwueze brings to Fulham, the former Arsenal midfielder told SuperSport: "Entertainment as a person, but his footballing ability we all like.
"Calvin and I have played with him for so many years, and he's able to dribble, beat a player, provide assists, and also get goals himself.
"So what Calvin and I have been doing is just making sure he gets that confidence to go out and express himself, and I'm sure we'll get the best out of him."
A recent video circulating on social media claimed that Chukwueze was the most underrated player in football.
Iwobi expressed disappointment that the winger's contributions often go unnoticed due to an overreliance on statistics in modern football.
"It's kind of sad because people judge players based on stats. If you actually watch him play, you'll see how many chances he creates in a game.
"They're not always converted, which is why some people underrate him."
Chukwueze was among three Fulham players who featured in Nigeria's 2-1 victory over Lesotho on Friday, joining Iwobi and Bassey in the Super Eagles' matchday squad.
