'Fantastic' - Brighton coach hails Super Falcons goalkeeper Nnadozie despite loss to Arsenal
Published: October 12, 2025
Brighton & Hove Albion manager Dario Vidosic was full of praise for Chiamaka Nnadozie following her outstanding display in Sunday’s 1–0 defeat to European champions Arsenal in a Women’s Super League encounter at the Emirates Stadium.
Despite Brighton leaving North London empty-handed, Nnadozie once again showcased why she is regarded as one of the league's top goalkeepers.
The Nigeria international produced several crucial saves to keep her side in contention, with only an unfortunate deflection off teammate Marisa Olislagers denying her a third clean sheet of the campaign.
The Super Falcons star was called into action early in the game, making two quick-fire saves in the ninth minute to prevent Arsenal from taking an early lead.
Her efforts were even more commendable given that the bright afternoon sun was directly in her eyes for much of the first half.
Nnadozie, who was nominated among the Goalkeepers of the Year in the prestigious Ballon d’Or shortlist, could do little to stop the decisive goal, a deflected strike that wrong-footed her in a 3v2 attacking move by the Gunners.
Commenting on the performance of Nnadozie, Vidosic said to BBC: "She is a fantastic player. She's been really important for us.
"When she was called upon, she made it difficult for the opponents as well."
In six WSL appearances so far, Nnadozie has recorded two clean sheets and 24 saves, including 14 from inside the box, numbers that underline her shot-stopping quality and composure under pressure.
Nnadozie is expected to feature for the Super Falcons later this month when Nigeria face Benin in a pair of 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches.
