Akeem Latifu Eligible To Face Fredrikstad Despite Red Card
Published: April 04, 2013
It was feared former Flying Eagles wing back Akeem Latifu would miss Hodd's first game in the Norwegian first division following his red card in a pre - season friendly on Monday.
When Hodd played Forde in their last practice match before the start of the championship, Latifu took the walk of shame after 65 minutes following a harsh tackle on øystein Myrkaskog.
The Norway Federation has ruled that Akeem Latifu is eligible for next Monday's game against Fredrikstad since he was suspended for only one match.
A player sent off in a friendly match can play the next league game if it is only a one - match suspension.
The news will be welcomed by coach Lars Arne Nilsen who does not have a capable replacement for his Nigerian defender.
Akeem Latifu is the only Nigerian player left at Hodd after the contracts of Nonso Lala and Kazeem Ahmed were not renewed at the end of the 2012 campaign.
