'We got it right today' - Super Eagles midfielder Yusuf reacts after stunning MLS hat-trick

Super Eagles midfielder Alhassan Yusuf has spoken about his impressive hat-trick for New England Revolution after inspiring the club to a 3-0 victory over D.C. United in Major League Soccer.

Yusuf scored all three goals as the Revolution secured a convincing win, becoming the club’s first player to register a hat-trick since 2017.

Reflecting on his goals and the team’s preparation, Yusuf explained that the performance was the result of work done in training throughout the season.

“It something we have been practicing for a while now from the beginning of the season and we got it right today. I was in the right place and got the goals. A new nickname , I don't know if I will take it, but we'll see," he told the club's media.

The Nigerian midfielder was quick to credit his teammates for the result, insisting that the victory was built on a strong collective performance rather than his individual contribution.

“It all comes down to the way we played today. It was a really good team performance. We’ve had some good games, even though the result didn’t go our way in the last two games we played," he added.

Yusuf also pointed to the team’s execution of its game plan as a major factor behind the comfortable victory, with the players successfully translating their work on the training ground into the match.

“Today, you can see the way we played – the game plan and everything. I think everybody on the pitch got it right, and that’s why we got the result. It something that we have been practicing in training and today we see the result of that," he revealed.

The hat-trick represents a significant moment in Yusuf’s time with New England Revolution and provided a timely boost for the midfielder after the team had gone without a win in its previous two matches.
