Nigerian youngster Zadok Yohanna made his Premier League debut for Brighton and Hove Albion on Sunday, coming off the bench during their emphatic 4-0 victory over Aston Villa.
The 19-year-old winger was introduced in the 78th minute, replacing Mats Wieffer, as Brighton comfortably saw out the closing stages of the contest.
His appearance marked a significant milestone following his move to the Premier League side from Swedish club AIK.
Brighton’s decision to keep Yohanna with the first-team squad for the 2026/27 campaign rather than send him out on loan emphasized the club’s belief in his potential.
Brighton dominated Aston Villa from the opening stages, taking the lead through Victor Lindelöf’s own goal in the eighth minute.
Maxim De Cuyper doubled the advantage in the 18th minute before Jack Hinshelwood struck twice in quick succession in the 30th and 31st minutes to complete the 4-0 rout.
Yohanna’s Premier League debut now represents another significant step in his rapid rise, giving the Nigerian teenager his first taste of English top-flight football at a club that has invested heavily in his development.
