Saudi El Clasico: Ilenikhena resumes full training at Al-Ittihad after injury scare on Super Eagles duty

Al-Ittihad have received a major boost ahead of Saturday's Saudi El Clasico, with Nigerian striker George Ilenikhena resuming full training after an injury scare while on international duty with the Super Eagles, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.

Al-Hilal will host Al-Ittihad at the Kingdom Arena in the highly anticipated Pro League clash, which corresponds to the eighth round of matches in the Saudi top flight.

Ilenikhena sustained the injury while making his debut for the Super Eagles in a 2-1 win over Madagascar on September 25, raising doubts over his availability for the trip to Al-Hilal.

The 21-year-old endeared himself to Nigeria fans by finding the net 45 minutes into his debut against Madagascar, helping the Super Eagles come from behind to secure victory over the island nation.

The former Monaco man was patched up for the defeat to Guinea-Bissau and came off the bench with 14 minutes remaining, with manager Eric Chelle admitting before the game that the forward was not in tip-top condition.

Ahead of the Clasico, Ilenikhena returned to group training on Tuesday and will be hoping to feature in the crucial encounter against the Saudi Pro League leaders.

Ilenikhena has enjoyed an impressive start to the campaign, registering six goals and two assists in nine appearances across all competitions for Al-Ittihad.
