Ajax Amsterdam centre-back Dies Janse has welcomed the challenge of going up against Nigeria international Tolu Arokodare in training, viewing the physical battles as an important part of his development.
The Wolverhampton Wanderers striker joined the Dutch Eredivisie giants during the summer transfer window on a loan deal that will keep him at the Amsterdam club until the end of the 2026-27 season.
Standing at 1.97 metres, Arokodare brings a commanding aerial presence and imposing physicality—qualities that had previously been lacking in the Ajax squad.
The Super Eagles forward has enjoyed a remarkable start to life in Amsterdam, registering six goals and two assists in nine appearances, an even more impressive return considering he has started just four matches across all competitions.
Dies Janse does not see Arokodare's physicality as a problem, but an opportunity to sharpen his own game.
He told Sportnieuws : "'Physically, turning and twisting, and getting stronger. Well, if I can stand up against Tolu (Arokodare), that can only be a good thing. He is a real beast.
"That is why it is nice that guys like that are joining. You learn from them every day."
Arokodare was on international duty with the Super Eagles last month, featuring in back-to-back 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches against Madagascar and Guinea-Bissau.
