Kenneth Omeruo Injury : Fifa May Pay Compensation To Chelsea
Published: November 17, 2013
Football’s governing body, Fifa is likely to pay financial compensation to English Premier League club Chelsea following the injury to Nigeria international Kenneth Omeruo in Saturday’s World Cup qualifier against Ethiopia.
The 20 - year - old center back had to make way for Warri Wolves skipper Azubuike Egwuekwe in the 62nd minute.
At the moment, it is unknown the number of days or even weeks Omeruo would have to spend on the sidelines until further tests are conducted.
Per Fifa circular number 1307, the association is obliged to pay a maximum sum of €20,548 to Chelsea if the Super Eagles defender has not recovered from his ailment after 28 days.
This is not the first time Kenneth Omeruo has suffered a disability while defending the colors of the National Team.
In fact, he only returned to action after picking up a shoulder injury at the Fifa Confederations Cup held in June.
