Pre-Afcon friendly: Egypt FA confirm Pharaohs will battle Super Eagles, date and venue revealed
Published: October 26, 2025
The Egyptian Football Association has confirmed that the Pharaohs will face Nigeria in a friendly match on December 14 at the Cairo International Stadium as part of their final preparations for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
According to an official statement sent to the media, including Filgoal, the match was arranged at the request of head coach Hossam Hassan, who specifically sought to test his team against a top-ranked opponent before the continental showpiece kicks off in Morocco.
The encounter against Nigeria will be Egypt's last game before they travel to Morocco for the Afcon, which runs from December 21, 2025 to January 18, 2026.
Prior to that, the Pharaohs will participate in the Dubai International Championship next month, featuring Uzbekistan, Iran and Cape Verde.
Egypt have been drawn in Group B of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, alongside South Africa, Angola and Zimbabwe as they seek a record-extending eighth continental title.
The Super Eagles will face Tunisia, Tanzania and Uganda in Group C of the tournament.
Before the Afcon, the three-time African champions will take on Gabon’s Panthers in the 2026 World Cup qualifying playoffs.
