Kenneth Omeruo In Contention To Play Against South Africa
Published: November 18, 2014
Chelsea loanee Kenneth Omeruo is in contention to be named in the starting lineup for Wednesday evening’s clash between the Super Eagles and Bafana Bafana in Uyo, south - eastern Nigeria.
The central defender , 21, has recovered from a minor complaint that made him sit out last weekend’s clash away to Congo.
With defensive partner Godfrey Oboabona ruled out of the tie due to suspension, Omeruo’s return to full fitness will be sweet music to the ears of Super Eagles gaffer Stephen Keshi, whose options in that position are limited.
Oboabona was shown his second yellow card of the qualifying campaign against the Red Devils, meaning he has been automatically banned for the last Group A fixture.
Also, Reading midfielder Hope Akpan will not be on parade at the Akwa Ibom International Stadium after dislocating his shoulder on Saturday.
