OYO Sports Writers Association Of Nigeria Celebrates Owoblow At 60

In a spirit of celebrating our sporting heroes while alive, Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) Oyo State Chapteron Monday in Ibadan organized a lecture to commemorate the 60th birthday of former Super Eagles and Shooting Stars winger, Dr. Felix Owolabi Akinloye.
The birthday lecture titled ‘Owoblow,the Quintessential Legend of our time’was delivered by the zonal coordinator of National SportsCommission (NSC) zone one, Dr. Steve Olarinoye at the media center of Obafemi Awolowo Stadium, Ibadan with sporting press, colleague of the celebrant and some handful of sports administrators in attendance.
Chunk of the paper delivered by the lecturer bothered on many positive contributions of Osun State born left winger and how he surmounted many ordeals he encountered as a player, coach and football administrator before attaining the diamond age.
Many other speakers at the event which includes: Niyi Akande who had coached the celebrant, Hon. Waheed Ekun Special Adviser to Oyo State Governor on Youths and Sports, Alh. Raheem Olatunji Socrates, a veteran sports journalist, Chairperson Nigerian Association of Women Journalists, Oyo Chapter, Mrs. Kiitan Adeagbo Kehinde Jaifos, a playing mate of Owolabiwere full of good testimonies about the celebrant.
Owolabi while reacting during the event gave thanks to almighty for sparing his life to witness 60 years on earth considering many tribulations he faced while playing an active football, especially during his 15 years expedition with Shooting Stars.
He however, ascribed the recent dwindling fortune of Nigerian football to the loss of core value on the path of players and administrators, which he claimed culminated to the recent outer of our darling Super Eagles from the African most prestigious tourney, (AFCON 2015).
