Following the footsteps of Victor Moses: Chelsea's Nigerian duo named in England squad for U17 WC

The English Football Association has unveiled England's 21-man roster for the 2025 FIFA U17 World Cup in Qatar, with three Nigeria-eligible players included in the Young Lions' squad, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.

Landon Emenalo, son of 1994 World Cup star Michael Emenalo, joins Chelsea teammate Chizaram Ezenwata and West Ham United goalkeeper Lanre Awesu in the team selected for the global showpiece.

The trio are provisionally cap-tied to England, having represented the Young Lions during the qualifying campaign for the tournament.

This season, Emenalo, Awesu and Ezenwata have all been promoted to England's U18 national team but remain age-eligible for the U17s, as each was born in 2008.

Emenalo has been handed the number 3 jersey, Awesu will wear number 13, and Ezenwata has been assigned number 18.

England U17s will kick off their campaign against Venezuela on Tuesday, 4 November, before taking on Haiti on Friday, 7 November and Egypt on Monday, 10 November.

The final is scheduled for Thursday, 27 November, at the Khalifa International Stadium in Doha.

The trio will be aiming to follow in the footsteps of former Nigeria international Victor Moses, who was England's top scorer at the 2007 Fifa U17 World Cup with three goals.

Other Nigeria-eligible players who have featured for England in past editions include Timothy Eyoma (2017), Justin Oboavwoduo and Ethan Nwaneri (2023), while Chelsea alum Ike Ugbo was part of the travelling squad for the 2015 tournament in Chile.
