Fenerbahce To Pay Joseph Yobo One Million Euros If He Remains A Free Agent
Published: January 31, 2015
It has been revealed that former Nigeria skipper Joseph Yobo was paid compensation after Fenerbahce terminated his contract before the close of the transfer market last summer.
The Turkish champions were desperate to free up a space in their foreign quota as a result of the strict requirements of the Turkish Football Federation, before the rules were changed earlier this month.
According to Haberturk Gazette, Joseph Yobo was paid one million euros by the Yellow Canaries for shredding the agreement he had with the club 10 months ahead of schedule.
Excluding performance related add - ons, the central defender pocketed €2 million per season, and half of that sum was paid to him.
The balance of €1 million will be paid to Yobo if he does not get a new team before the end of June.
Now, Turkish clubs are permitted to field eleven foreigners in the Super Lig, starting from next season.
