Manu Garba Admits Flying Eagles Defense Still A Work In Progress
Published: May 13, 2015
Coach Manu Garba has hailed the performance of his wards following their 5 - 2 thrashing of Hoffenheim in a scrimmage on Tuesday afternoon.
But the Nigeria Under 20s manager has admitted that there are gray areas that must be worked on before the opening fixture against Brazil at the Fifa Under 20 World Cup.
“It was a good outing overall and I will score us about 70%,” said Manu Garba to thenff.com.
“But again we need to work on our defense by taking on more defensive responsibilities and our finishing has to be better as we lost several chances.
“All the same, we should also praise the Hoffenheim team, they are a team of professional players and they took the game to us very early on.”
Coach Manu Garba opted to start with a four - man defense, with Musa Muhammed, Mustapha Abdullahi, Zaharadeen Bello and Bashiru Monsoru his preferred quartet.
Racing Genk defender Wilfred Ndidi was subbed on for Bashiru Monsoru in the 18th minute a, clear sign that things did not go as planned in the early stages.
