Perpetua Nkwocha Primed To Equal Enyeama Record Against USA
Published: June 16, 2015
Super Falcons striker Perpetua Nkwocha will equal the appearance record of Vincent Enyeama if she turns out for the African champions on Wednesday morning against the United States at the World Cup.
Nkwocha is only a cap short of the Lille shot - stopper after suiting up for the Falcons in their 2 - 0 loss to Australia in a Group D fixture at the ongoing tournament in Canada.
The ex Sunnanå SK star earned her 100th cap when she replaced French - based Desire Oparanozie in the 54th minute of the encounter at Winnipeg Stadium but could not add to her solitary strike at the World Cup, which she achieved in the 1 - 0 defeat of Canada four years back.
Aged 39 years and 19 days, Perpetua Nkwocha became the oldest female footballer to play at the World Cup when she was subbed on, beating the previous record held by Meg of Brazil by a day.
She made her international debut for Nigeria in a friendly against Ghana 16 years ago.
