Godwin Obaje Nets Brace As Wikki Tourists Thrash Sharks
Published: June 22, 2015
Godwin Obaje scored twice as Wikki Tourists beat Sharks FC 3-0 at the Pantami Stadium on Sunday evening.
Abdul Maikaba’s charges got off to a stunning start in the Nigeria Professional Football League week 13 clash, taking the lead after just 22 minutes.
Obaje skinned past the defenders, got to the by-line and fired in a low effort that left Henry Ayodele stranded. Sharks’ best attempts were generally fashioned from set-pieces.
Wikki doubled their lead just before the break from their usual source. Obaje benefitted from a poor defensive unit to bag his second of the match.
Sharks came out with more resolve in the second half and very nearly pulled one back in the opening minutes.
Fred Obomate latched onto Christian Pyagbara’s pass, but he was denied by Sani Haliru.
Wikki’s confidence went sky high and they began to play some fantasy football in which they further stretched the scoreline, and Alaba Johnson trippled the lead with just under 15 minutes to play.
There were further scoring chances at both ends, but neither side was able to score and the game finished 3-0 in favour of Wikki.
