John Kim’s second minute goal was all Plateau United needed to claim a 1-0 victory over highly spirited Kogi United in a match witnessed by a large crowd including Plateau State Governor, Simon Lalong on Saturday.
The Confluence State club threw all the could to level up but were denied by a slippery pitch as a result of heavy down pour and a near perfect defending by the Plateau United.
Head Coach of Kogi United, Fatai Osho who wasn’t happy with the result believed his side deserved at least a point in Jos noting that all hope is not lost for his side to remain in the NNL.
“Actually my prayer is that we should escape the drop, I mean this team can actually get a promotion to the Premier League next season, I’m so sure about that.
“I will stay with this team, I’m not so happy this time around because we should have at least get a point from here, you can believe that with what the fans are saying but I’m so sure by next season, the people of Kogi State will be happy they have a team to challenge for top places.
“The officiating was excellent today, I’ve experienced this before while at Remo Stars when we won in Port Harcourt (against Delta Force) with two games to go and the top referees did well then, that’s what we had today and I hope those we have in
the NNL will be doing something like this,” the former Supreme Court Technical Adviser said.
Coach Osho however remained optimistic that the Wada Boys could end the season on a high adding that they will fight till the end.
Assistant Coach of Plateau United, Mansur Abdullahi admitted that the Jos based side were lucky as Kogi United stretched his boys till the last minutes of the game.
Kogi United, who are still awaiting the decision of the NFF a on their stalemated match against Adamawa United will be hosting Jigawa Golden Stars in the final fixtures in Lokoja on Saturday.
