Fulham Starlet Tayo Edun Delighted To Make England Squad For World Cup
Published: October 11, 2015
Fulham defender Tayo Edun has vowed to repay manager Neil Dewsnip’s confidence in him after making England U17s roster for the Fifa Under 17 World Cup which kicks off next weekend.
The left - back was pleasantly surprised that he was one of the 21 players that traveled to Chile, as he was red - carded in his last two appearances for the young Lions prior to the announcement of the squad.
“I wasn’t sure about the call-up because I had a bit of a rough time, getting sent off twice, so I’m happy that the coach trusts me in such a big competition and I’m pleased that he hasn’t made any drastic changes and taken me out,” Tayo Edun told fulhamfc.com.
“I’m happy that he’s trusted me because understandably he would have had a couple of doubts, but I’m ready to go and show him that it’s worth taking me.
“I’ve never been to South America before so it should be a good experience.”
Tayo Edun has recorded 4 appearances for Fulham Under 21s this season and was deployed in central midfield in each of those games.
