Carl Ikeme Resists Comparisons To Vincent Enyeama
Published: November 16, 2015
Wolverhampton Wanderers goalkeeper Carl Ikeme says he has not found it difficult replacing Lille shot - stopper Vincent Enyeama, who has called time on his career with the national team after a publicized dispute with Sunday Oliseh.
And the 29 - year - old has resisted all attempts to compare him to Enyeama, stressing that he has his own qualities.
“I wouldn’t say it was difficult. I was always aware that Vincent’s been the No1, captain and been an unbelievable goalkeeper for Nigeria, probably one of the best African keepers to ever play the game, ” Ikeme said to fifa.com.
“I don’t really want to try and emulate someone else. I want to do it my own way and be the best I can be.
“I know people always want to compare goalkeepers to each other, but I’m just trying to concentrate on what I do and do the best for Nigeria. ”
Ikeme has racked up five appearances for the Super Eagles since his debut and has kept four cleansheets in those games.
