Nigeria U-23s Keep Olympic Dream Alive, Draw With Algeria

The Dream Team VI have qualified for the last four of the Africa U-23 Cup of Nations after securing a goalless draw against Algeria - U23s in both countries final Group B fixture.
With Egypt losing 1 - 0 to Mali in a game played simultaneously, Algeria emerged winner of Group B ahead of Nigeria thanks to their superior goal difference.
The early exchanges saw Nigeria enjoy better possession but the opponents were disciplined in defense and the Dream Team did not have clear cut chances.
On 33 minutes, Oghenekaro Etebo’s brilliant freekick hit the post before goalkeeper Abdelkadir Salhi saved the rebound near the goal line.
Coach Samson Siasia made changes after the interval, bringing on Tiongoli and Awoniyi, while Victor Osimhen was handed a late cameo but the scoreboard was unchanged at the final whistle.
In the semi - finals, Nigeria will tackle hosts Senegal at Stade Léopold Sédar Senghor, Dakar on Wednesday, December 9, starting from 1600 hours, while Algeria face South Africa.
