Published: December 21, 2015
Mighty Jets FC of Jos are on the brink of launching a weekly sports news
tabloid which would be sold to sports loving Nigerians who are keen on
getting information on domestic sporting activities as well as
international sporting news.
In a statement released by the Club through itss Media Officer, Mbum Ferdinand, the Club said the decision to run a tabloid is part of wide range businesses introduced by the Chairman, Godfrey Hamza, to augment government’s spendings particularly at the area of running costs.
“Mr Hamza actually brought up the idea of running a tabloid. I can assure you we are going to make it something of good quality and I believe everyone would like to read it ,” Ferdinand was quoted as saying.
Ferdinand also said a former Nigerian international has brokered a deal between the Club and a multinational production outfit in Europe and promised to make the transactions public at the right time.
Mighty Jets FC was founded by Alhaji Ismaila Mabo and six others in 1970 and became the first winners of Nigeria’s top-flight league in 1972.
The team are also multiple finalists of the FA Cup and has produced some of the best players in Nigeria’s football history.
The team now play in the Nigeria National League and is being bankrolled by the Plateau State government alongside hometown rivals, Plateau United FC.
