Austin Okocha Coy On The Future Of Alex Iwobi At Arsenal
Published: February 05, 2016
Ex-Super Eagles hero Austin Okocha remained coy when asked about the future of his nephew, Alex Iwobi, at Arsenal, with the emergency loan window set to open on Tuesday, February 9.
The Emirates outfit have added Egypt international Mohamed Elneny to their updated Premier League roster and several of their first-team stars, who were sidelined last year, are set to return from injury or are now fit.
Okocha had informed this website in October that Iwobi may be farmed out on loan in the winter transfer market to a team lower the pyramid to improve his chances of first-team football, but the window shut with the player staying put at Arsenal.
“I don’t know if Iwobi will be leaving Arsenal (during the emergency window), ” Okocha, who is presently out of the country for personal reasons, briefly told allnigeriasoccer.com when contacted on Friday morning.
The 19-year-old Iwobi renewed his Arsenal vows last October by signing a multi-year contract that ties him to the 13-time English champions until the summer of 2020.
