Exciting Winger Moses Olanrewaju Chooses To Play For Nigeria Ahead Of England
Published: April 27, 2016
Stirling Albion winger Moses Olanrewaju has pledged his international future to Nigeria ahead of England, where he was born, and is hoping to get a call up to one of the youth teams in the near future.
The 19-year-old had been on the radar of the Nigeria U17 coaches ahead of the 2015 Fifa Under 17 World Cup and was due to train with the squad but pulled out of the training camp after picking up an injury.
“If I continue doing what I am doing in Scottish Pro Leagues, then an international coach will spot me, ” Moses Olanrewaju told allnigeriasoccer.com.
“I just want to be given a chance, go on a showcase / trial and see if there is interest from the coaches.
“I was born in South London, England to Nigerian parents. I am eligible to represent England and Nigeria but I would prefer to represent Nigeria.”
Olanrewaju added : “When playing for Stevenage I was meant to go to the Nigeria U17s then a big injury occurred. Now I am 19, first season back at a pro club and managing to get back on track quite well at the moment.
“I am a left winger, hard worker, good at pressing, skillful and link play to strikers feet.”
Moses Olanrewaju had stops at Brentford, Stevenage and Rushden & Diamonds in England before he transferred to Scottish club Stirling Albion.
Just last week, he was voted the Young Player of the Year at The Binos.
