Published: May 17, 2016
As many as five players eligible to defend the colours of Nigeria have been called up to the England U19s squad ahead of their international friendlies against Mexico early next month.
Joshua Onomah (Tottenham Hotspur), Dominic Solanke (Chelsea) and Sheyi Ojo (Liverpool) are poised to add to their international caps after they were selected for the trip to Mexico by manager Aidy Boothroyd.
Ojo has been approached by officials of the Nigeria Football Federation so he commits his international future to Nigeria ahead of the Olympic Games but the paperwork might not be completed before the start of the competition in Brazil.
Charlton Athletic striker Ademola Lookman and Chelsea defender Fikayo Tomori have been handed a chance to represent England ahead of Nigeria, with both young stars called up for the first time.
Lookman impressed this season for the Addicks despite their relegation to the third-tier of English football, so much so that he has been linked with a couple of teams in the Premier League ahead of the reopening of the transfer window.
