Nigeria Get Favourable Fixture List, Face Zambia In Opening Matchup
Published: June 24, 2016
Nigeria will kickoff their 2018 FIFA World Cup qualification – CAF Third Round campaign against Zambia away, after the fixture list was released on Friday evening.
On match day two, the Super Eagles will entertain Algeria before a meeting with the last group opponents Cameroon at home.
They will open the reverse fixtures against Cameroon, then square off against Zambia and Algeria in that order.
With three matches at home and an away tie with the least ranked country in Group B, Zambia from their first five fixtures, the national team will be in a good position to qualify for the tournament in Russia if they can accumulate at least 12 points before they face Algeria.
Nigeria have qualified for five of the last six World Cups, only missing out on the head-to-head rule to Angola in the race for Germany 2006.
