A representative of Kelechi Iheanacho has confirmed that the Manchester City talent is a huge doubt to play for Nigeria at the Olympic Games even though he has been named to their 35-man provisional roster.
The 19-year-old striker is in Owerri, South-Eastern Nigeria, at the moment, but has to return to England in the coming days for the start of pre-season training.
“Kelechi will return to Man City for pre-season training, he has a new manager and is keen to impress him, ” Kelechi’s rep told allnigeriasoccer.com.
“With the new sheriff in town it is not healthy for him to go to the Olympics. He has to improve his relationship with Pep Guardiola, he is in the plans of the new manager. ”
The Taye Academy product played for the U17 and U20 teams of Nigeria prior to making his debut for the senior squad in 2015.
