Rep Dismisses Outrageous Claims Kelechi Asked For Man City No. Nine Jersey
Published: July 11, 2016
A representative of Kelechi Iheanacho has dismissed speculations in the local media which claimed that the Manchester City striker demanded for the number nine jersey in the new season.
Last season, the Nigeria international wore the number 72 kit but is expected to be handed a lower shirt number in the coming weeks as he has been promoted to the first team.
“Kelechi Iheanacho did not speak with any Nigerian journalist or can they provide evidence of their communication with him,” Kennedy Ezenwere, CEO of Kelechi’s former club Taye Academy, told allnigeriasoccer.com.
“Kelechi likes the number ten and number nine jerseys but prefers wearing the number ten. This is the number he wore during his days with the Golden Eaglets and Flying Eagles.
“I can confirm that he did not ask Manchester City to give him the number nine jersey. ”
New arrival from Celta Vigo, Nolito, will play with the number nine shirt next season, while it is envisaged that Argentina star Sergio Aguero will keep his number ten shirt.
