Spurs Midfielder Josh Onomah Confident England Can Repeat Feat
Published: July 19, 2016
England U19 international Josh Onomah is confident that the Young Lions can win the European Under-19 Championship in Germany, adding that they prepared well for the competition.
The Tottenham Hotspur midfielder starred at the 2014 UEFA European Under-17 Championship, helping England to win the title, and nine players that made the squad list for the tourney in Malta are in Germany.
“Our preparation for this tournament has been right, we’ve trained together a lot and I feel like we’re really a team, ” Onomah said to tottenhamhotspur.com.
“We’ve got a lot of winners and leaders in our group and I’m very confident that we can do well again.
“Obviously we know that we won the Euros two years ago but we’re really focusing on this tournament now – it’s a completely different competition so we’re not dwelling on the past, we’ve set new challenges and we hope to carry on playing well as we go into the semi-finals.”
The 19-year-old Onomah played 19 times for the first team of Spurs last term, including eight appearances off the bench in the English topflight.
