MLS ASG : Iwobi Says Arsenal Will Prove They Are Better Than Spurs
Published: July 28, 2016
Alex Iwobi has his eyes firmly fixed on Arsenal ’s showdown against MLS All-Stars in the early hours of Friday morning
Tottenham Hotspur lost the 2015 Major League Soccer All-Star Game, but the Nigeria international has predicted that the Gunners will defeat their opponents.
“We believe we can perform better than Tottenham. We just need to show it to you guys,” Iwobi told reporters, according to mlssoccer.com.
While Iwobi and Chuba Akpom will be hoping to get game time at the Avaya Stadium (San Jose), former Super Eagles invitee and Portland Timbers star Fanendo Adi has been left out of the ASG roster.
The attacking midfielder has admitted that he has been monitoring the performance of Adi in the MLS .
“We’ve only been on one trip together, but from that experience we got close and started talking a bit.
“The last game I was watching, he was doing really well. He impressed me.” Iwobi added.
The 20-year-old has been left out of Nigeria’s 18-man squad for the Olympic Games because Arsenal insisted that he should take part in pre-season training ahead of the start of the Premier League.
