Nigerian Wonderkid Olamide Shodipo Promoted To Queens Park Rangers First Team
Published: July 30, 2016
The exciting Nigerian winger Olamide Shodipo has been promoted to the first team of Football League Championship side Queens Park Rangers ahead of the forthcoming season.
It was a no-brainer for manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink to add the teenager to the first team roster, having impressed during pre-season training.
Last season, Shodipo, who turned 19 on July 5, represented the U21 team of QPR, scoring four goals from 15 appearances, which made the club offer him a two-year contract extension.
The London club have announced via their official webpage that Shodipo will wear the number 27 shirt in the new season, while Nigerian-born defender Nedum Onuoha has retained his number five kit.
Born in Dubin, the Republic of Ireland youth-teamer could make his competitive debut for the Hoops in the league game against Leeds United on August 7.
