Four Nigerian Players Feature As Man City End Pre-Season With Defeat To Arsenal

Manchester City ended pre-season with a 3-2 defeat to Premier League rivals Arsenal at the Nya Ullevi (Göteborg) on Sunday evening, with four players of Nigerian descent in action for both clubs.
Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi was named in the starting XI, teammate Chuba Akpom and City pair Kelechi Iheanacho and Tosin Adarabioyo started on the bench, but all entered into the fray in the second half.
The Citizens were one goal up heading into the interval, but Iwobi equalized four minutes out of intermission, his third goal in pre-season.
Chuba Akpom, who came on with 12 minutes remaining, extended Arsenal’s lead in the 86th minute, before Iheanacho pulled one back with a great header from Jesús Navas’s assist two minutes later.
Adarabioyo and Iheanacho were in action for 27 minutes and 22 minutes respectively, while Iwobi subbed out in the 69th minute.
Arsenal’s Premier League opener is against Liverpool while Pep Guardiola’s side welcome Sunderland to the Etihad Stadium.
