Siasia Has The Last Laugh Over Sweden Coach Who Had Rubbished His Defense
Published: August 08, 2016
Nigeria U23s coach Samson Siasia has taken a dig at Sweden coach Hakan Ericson in the wake of his side’s 1-0 win over the Scandinavians at the 2016 Olympic Games on Sunday evening (local time).
In his pre-match comments, Ericson had criticized the Dream Team VI for conceding four goals in their opener against Japan, and had thought that it would be “business as usual” when his side face the Africans, but he was proven wrong by Siasia and William Troost-Ekong, who marshaled the backline.
“Yesterday we had a meeting and we learned about the reviews of the Swedes, our defensive line today proved that it was not so, ” Siasia told reporters.
“First he ( Ericson ) said that. Before , in our group , I said that the game against Sweden would be good. And it was.
“We got a good victory. We got too far for those who had problems . And we still have a game to go.”
