Two Players Left On Nigeria Alternate Roster As Saviour Godwin Finally Departs Brazil
Published: August 10, 2016
Allnigeriasoccer.com has been informed that Saviour Godwin, who represented Belgian side KV Oostende last term, has finally departed the Nigeria U23s camp in Brazil.
Though it was widely reported earlier this month that the former Nigeria U20 international left the Dream Team in Atlanta to join his club for pre-season, it can be revealed now that he was in the traveling party to Manaus on August 4.
Saviour Godwin was amongst the players that the Sports Minister held a meeting with on Sunday after the game against Sweden, before he boarded a flight out of Brazil the following day.
With the nonavailability of Saviour and Liverpool striker Taiwo Awoniyi, it means only goalkeeper Yusuf and Stanley Dimgba are left on the alternate roster.
Meanwhile, Sports minister Dalung will be in the stands once again when the Nigeria U23s take on Colombia today, a team official has disclosed.
